I didn't grow up thinking I'd run a lighting company.
I grew up thinking I'd always find the right words. As someone who works in finance — a world of numbers, logic, and clean answers — I've always been good at solving problems that have solutions. But some of the most important things in life don't.

A few years ago, a close friend of mine, a mother I've known since college, told me her son had been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
"The hardest part isn't the diagnosis. It's the nights. He can't wind down. The world is too loud for him, even when the house is silent."
